Foot Locker Careers – Front End Architect

Job Description:

Foot Locker, Inc. is seeking an Architect of UI, Markup, & Style in our Front End Development team to develop and support our websites supporting our customer touch points, bringing our technology platform and organization to the next level in quality, innovation and overall business value. They will be responsible for planning, successful execution and ongoing support of complex front-end architecture for our e-commerce platform.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Regularly review and add valuable comments to code contributor submissions
  • Collaborate with product, UXD and other teams to bring desired designed experiences to life
  • Ensures high performance of sites through optimal front-end architecture and development of components
  • Establish semantic markup that is easily consumable
  • Writing reviewing technical specifications
  • Maintain and enhance existing and new design systems
  • Maintains User Experience standards as established by UXD
  • Defines and evangelizes best practices around front-end technologies
  • Solve and advise on complex UI problems
  • Establish and maintain methodology for UI quality control across browsers and devices
  • Builds and maintains front end component libraries to be used across multiple banners
  • Manage SASS architecture and how it applies to global and to individual components and multiple brands
  • Work with front end manager, product, and scrum teams to deliver projects and tasks on-time

Job Requirements:

  • Consistent upward and downstream communication
  • Expert understanding of mobile first methodologies
  • Expert understanding of semantic, compliant and accessible markup (W3C, WAI and WCAG)
  • Experience using Sketch or Figma
  • Consistently meets or exceeds deadlines on programming projects
  • Strong interest in UI/UX and design
  • Aptitude to problem solve complicated responsive design problems
  • Driven to be cross browser and cross device compatible
  • Resourceful, innovative, self-motivated, confident in high stress situations
  • Ability to develop reusable components using atomic design principles
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Experience and comfort working with Git Flow
  • Extensive experience with precompiles such as SCSS or LESS

Qualification & Experience:

  • At least 8 – 10 years of prior experience with development projects is required
  • Extensive experience with modern JavaScript libraries such as React JS, Angular, or Ember
  • Expert experience in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
  • Expert understanding of responsive design principles
